Around the 1940s, the Haitian-Cuban style of music known as Mambo was created as a combination of danson, son montuno and swing. Not long later, musician Perez Prado came up with Mambo dancing before it was adapted and pioneered by Eddie Torres by Americans and dubbed “on 2” later in the 20th century. Many different styles sprung up throughout Los Angeles, Mexico City and other locations, with the New York style best identified by its smooth, elegant and elastic movements.
